About the Candidate
A dog-friendly candidate and a dog owner himself, Alex Allard supports dedicated tax-based funding for dog parks and their designation as 'single-use'. See his comments below.
Platform: Allard says we need to work collectively as a community to strive for better infrastructure, better access to health care, better crime prevention strategies and better public safety initiatives for residents.
Allard served as a Winnipeg police officer for thirty years before retiring. He is a long time resident of Transcona and an active community volunteer, serving with the Winnipeg East Lions Club, Block Parent, Citizens for Crime Awareness, Neighbourhood Watch, and coaching youth in the Transcona Railers and Transcona Minor Hockey League.
If elected, I will support the motion in council to create a dedicated tax in support of upgrading and creating new dog parks. With the population in Transcona growing, so is the need for additional space as well as upgrades and maintenance of our current parks.
If elected, I will support the motion to a designated off-leash areas as 'single use' parks. I understand both the importance and safety to pets, their owners and park users.
