About the Candidate
WINDOG considers Harry Wolbert to be 'dog-unfriendly'. He did not wish to share his views on off-leash dog parks with voters.
Platform: Wolbert priorities are addressing poverty, transportation, public safety, and supporting environmentally-friendly initiatives. He pledges a municipal poverty reduction plan, low-income bus passes, and proposes a property-tax freeze. Wolbert supports the conversion to electric buses. The candidate opposes additional BRT lines, the opening of Portage and Main to pedestrian traffic, and cuts to the police budget.
Wolbert, a first-time candidate and an anti-poverty advocate, says he hopes to be elected to ensure affordability measures are raised at City Hall. He is the former chair of the Winnipeg Transit Riders Association. He writes a monthly column on poverty and disability related issues in the Winnipeg Sun. He works for the YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg as a Special Needs Programming Inclusion Aide.
