About the Candidate

Incumbent for St. James – Brooklands – Westin since 2014

WINDOG considers Scott Gillingham to be 'dog-unfriendly'. He did not wish to share his views on dog parks with voters this year or during the 2014 civic election campaign.

Platform: When Gillingham ran for council, road repairs were his top priority. He says the focus must remain as the job of rebuilding St. James' street network is not complete.

Gillingham served chair of the Winnipeg Police Board and the Standing Policy Committee on Finance and as the council liaison for veteran and military affairs.

Before being elected to City Council, Gillingham was pastor of Charleswood’s Grace Community Church for twelve years.

Gillingham has been an active community volunteer, serving on the boards of St James Assiniboia 55+ Centre and Silver Heights Community Centre. He also served on the Airport Advisory Committee on the Environment and on the building committee that planned and oversaw the construction of the new Sturgeon Heights Community Club. He co-initiated the launch of a Winnipeg Harvest Food Bank and helped launch a community garden project in west Winnipeg.

Gillingham was a candidate for the Progressive Conservative Party in the 2011 provincial election.

TBA
Q2: If elected, will you put forward and/or support a motion to designate off-leash areas as “single-use” parks where only those activities associated with off-leash dogs are permitted? Why or why not?
