About the Candidate
WINDOG considers Baljeet Sharma to be 'dog-unfriendly'. He did not wish to share his views on off-leash dog parks with voters.
Platform: Not published but Sharma says he’s aware of the issues that matter most to Winnipeggers.
Sharma is a small business owner. Last fall the Duffy’s Taxi shareholder joined hundreds of other licensed cab owners in publicly opposing the Province's Bill 30, the Act that dissolved the Manitoba Taxicab Board, placed responsibility for regulation with local municipalities and allowed ride-sharing services such as Uber and Lyft to move into the marketplace. He has not provide details of previous employment but says he’s worked in political, economic and cultural fields.
Sharma has a Bachelor of Arts in political science, history and English. He is an alumnus of Winnipeg Technical College’s heavy-duty mechanics program. He is fluent in English, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu.
As a community volunteer, he devotes his spare time to helping seniors by giving rides to medical appointments, bringing groceries and medical prescription.
