WINDOG considers Cindy Gilroy to be 'dog-unfriendly'. She did not wish to share her views on off-leash dog parks with voters.
Platform: Gilroy’s priorities continue to be improving roads, sidewalks, lanes, parks and recreation sites as well as improving safety. She has also focused on increasing transparency and accountability at City Hall.
Before Gilroy’s election to Council in 2014, she was assistant to the provincial Minister for the City of Winnipeg and Children and Youth, Kevin Chief and worked as an insurance broker in her family’s business. As councillor, she was appointed to 11 committees including Executive Policy, Finance, and Innovation; she was also served as acting deputy mayor.
Gilroy is a graduate of Tec Voc high school and studied at the U of W. She was a school trustee and served as a board member for the Social Planning Council of Winnipeg. She describes herself as an active member of the New Democratic Party.
